How to Repair Cracked or Damaged Concrete

Repair of concrete is not as simple as one may think. One principle of repairing concrete is to find a crack in a driveway or pathway and then, try to force some sort of concrete or cement-based mortar into the identified crack.  Damaged Concrete

Repair of concrete in small portions can’t easily be performed with an ordinary concrete mixture as the aggregate is often too big for small areas as well as the stones make it very hard to get a fair finish. The mortar or concrete mix can’t be forced down into tiny fissures or cracks easily and also, you can’t be sure you have even filled in the cracks. All you see is the top of the crack that is repaired. 

When the repaired concrete dries, it basically shrinks. As a matter of fact, it actually pulls away from the crack edges that is supposed to be repaired as it shrinks. The first option is not plausible because even the finest concrete or mortar mixture will just clog in tiny crevices, therefore, the second option would be good for you.

Open the crack until you achieve at least 75mm in depth and 25-50mm in width unless the crack doesn’t go down that deep anymore. 

Sweep out the bits and dust of the concrete. This is actually very important because any small piece of concrete that is left in the crevice will only prevent the epoxy mortar mix from bonding to the whole surface area of the crevice. Thus, the repair may not be that effective.
